Style News: Movements in hip-hop fashion
We’re always excited to learn about upcoming lines and events in hip-hop fashion.
*First up, Sean John are promising to launch a young contemporary brand, set to hit stores sometime this summer season. The company closed its Sean by Sean Combs women’s line earlier this year.
*EckoRed, Marc Ecko’s junior (a.k.a women’s) line is being revamped and upgraded and will launch just in time for back-to-school.
*Kimora Lee Simmons’ new line, KLS, launches at retail this fall. It’s described as a sleek, older version of Simmons’ hugely successful Baby Phat brand.
*Kimora’s estranged husband, Russell Simmons, was one of the first innovators of urban fashion, launching Phat Farm back in 1992. He’s now pushing Atman, a high-end jeans brand that carries the same brand name as his fragrance.
*Simmons has also launched the Russell Simmons Collection and XV, two lines he describes as reflecting what he’s learned in the fashion industry for the past 15 years.
*Damon Dash, who started Rocawear with Jay-Z, has created a new men’s line called CEO Collection, which has just launched at retail. He says a women’s line will soon follow.
*Not sure if Dash’s decision to title the collection “CEO” has anything to do with Jay-Z’s self-imposed title of “CEO of Hip-Hop,” but speaking of Jigga, he’s set to launch Bella Roc in the fall.
*Bella Roc will be a higher-end contemporary women’s line for fall, building on from Rocawear‘s successful women’s range.
From the above, we can see the established brands of hip-hop fashion are evolving and paying attention to changes in the market.

We gave you the first look at the upcoming Grey One x Mixi Bang Toy now that was done by famous Hong Kong toy artist, Tim Tsui. Now the full story develops Tim Tsui will be celebrating his first US solo show this month at Mixi Bang in Pasadena. For the occasion the artist got together with Mixibang and Greyone to create an exclusive Da Minci figure with the two stores.
