Footballer turned rapper Famouz

On September 25th, football player turned rapper Famouz (aka FMZ) will drop his debut album, Ghetto Passport (original title right?).

The former New York Giant’s album features a number of guests, including E-40 and Bun B.

Famouz’s football career started at Rutgers University, with a four year walk-on career with the New York Giants. It ended with a stint playing in the Arena Football League for the Nashville Kats.

“I have a lot of friends that still play football,” he says. “They know that I’ve been working on this music stuff for along time. I’m not going to mention names right now, but come on, I was a former Giant. But aside from those surprise guests, in the long run, my music will definitely speak for itself.”

Famouz follows in the footsteps of other athletes who’ve attempted a rap career, including basketballers Shaquille O’Neal and Ron Artest and boxer Roy Jones Jr.

What do you think of sportspeople who make the transition to hip-hop?

Yes. Didn’t you hear K.O.B.E? The raw talent and skill on that record has yet to be duplicated. I mean TYRA BANKS was on it!!!

Here’s a sampling of my lyrical skill

Uh, what I live for? Basketball, beats and broads
From Italy to the US, yes, it’s raw
I’ma search for the one that make my wealth feel poor
Who can ignore the spotlight life of Grandma
My falldown is how I found the aura, so I searched in
There’s plenty of women with sex appeal when it’s filled
Can even complete the package, all I date is actresses
Can play it safe with them, my money ain’t bait
But I must take risks to find a honey that’s legit
Whether she push a buck and a six, bumpin’ some mad chips
Out on her own, or live out of moms and pop’s home
Watch time, fashion, Adidas attire or Timbo’s
I don’t know, yo, these women come and go
Like the wind they blow, how do I know it’s you for sure?
When God talk to me, give me a signal
But until then, all my ears hear, just let me flow
    C’mon

  • Shaq Says... says:

Talk about Shaq’s lyrics. I dare you

    exuberant, change, cross, exilhurated
flomboyant, but boncey on beat breaks, I’m animated
now it’s been stated, I’m lyrically enthusiastic
I’m dope like all east coast CDs wrapped through plastic
what’s the meaning of life, y’all should know
in my lifetime I need a whole lotta dough, bro
no need to get zealous, you jealous, say you jealous
I spike on that — like Monica Seles
I split a divine rhyme, exsquisite like some elegant wine
here’s a toast, the world is mine
    I promise I’m a keep it punk
I represent the real hip-hop, I ain’t no freakin’ country bumpkin
hooparistic, freakaristic, poetic frenzy with conception
I got more flavor than a mystic
fringe benfit-ic, urging y’all to get wit it
style postulates, now pause while you gets splitted
I’m not just taco, I’m the whole enchilado
enter any center blowin’ up like Desperado

  • Suz says:

Every person should have the chance to prove their talents. It shouldn’t matter what job they had/have or will have…how many of us know rappers, singers, dancers, artists, etc. who do other ****? We all do…they all do! Anyways, who are we to judge? A person’s passion is just that, THEIR passion. It takes a whole lot to succeed in the music business just like it does to become a professional athlete. Let’s just see what he does. For all you haters…keep hatin’…the grinders will keep grindin…y’all make us grind harder!!!!!!!!!!!
