Is 16 too young to be a model?

According to Women’s Wear Daily, one of the recommendations from the forthcoming UK-based Model Health Inquiry report is to ban models who are under 16 from walking in shows at London Fashion Week in September.
The proposed regulations follow moves made by Madrid Fashion Week, where models with a body mass index of less than 18 were banned from the catwalks last September.
The Milan Chamber of Commerce in December also introduced licenses to verify all models’ age and health.
Do you think male and females aged under 16 are too young to model in catwalk shows?
I think they are cuz they be havin to show off they body and they chest and stuff, that is too young and kinda sick to want to see a 16 walk down a cat walk in a tiny ol skirt and short shirts
What’s wrong with being young? I don’t get it. Are they trying to ban young models because they’re afraid of old men perving on them, or do they think walking a runway is detrimental to a young woman’s health? I think they’re being silly.
As long as they are healthy I don’t have a problem with it. The coke sniffing and food tossing is what needs to be focused on.. that’s not an age problem.. if they can train some girls who are young and maek them represent the modeling world better, it might change things quicker

hell no it’s not. girls are looking older and older these days. they should change all laws to 16 from 18, not just the one on modeling. Must be all the bovine growth hormones in milk or something but 16yr old girls nowadays look like they’re 18, sometimes even older.
I think you should have to be 18 to model, not because theres anything wrong with being young, but because there is so much pressure to be of a certain body type and if your mind is on a 16 year olds level there is no telling what they won’t do to maintain that level. believe it or not 2 years makes a big difference in brain development
I’m thirteen, and I want to model. And I don’t see how you can be to young for modeling. Yes, I think certain jobs would be more appropriate for older models, although I don’t think we should limit anyone. And I know that there is a lot of pressure to be within certain sizes, but, I think we could send models to classes that help educate them on eating disorders and the dangers of drugs. If they’re truly passionate about modeling, the course should keep them in line, and tell them how to stay healthy in a non-harmful way.
No I don’t think so look at Tyra she was fourteen when she started modeling.

Young models have been around for ages. I think now, in the time we live in it should be monitored more so that the right image is protrayed. If they want to stop young modeling then what of young pageants? The pageant industry is more fucked up.

i dont think so because at the end of the day its thier choice no one elses. if they think they are strong enough to get a job in that path then fine if they don’t like it then they can learn that modeling isnt thier career path.. everyone has to learn!!
