MTV have put out their list for the “10 Hottest MCs In The Game”.
The list rates rappers who are successful and in-demand right now, as opposed to of all time.
And the rankings are:

8. 50 Cent
7. Jay-Z

How in the hell can you say Jim Jones and MC in the same sentence. I don’t know what the hell ya’ll are smoking but you need to take out Jeezy, Kanye, 50 and add Talib Kweli, Ludacris and Bun B. -Real Talk-

I would take out jones and andre 3000 and 50 and put papose ,nas,and cassidy seen how he got at freeway
Real talk 50′s time is up… there’s no way that he’s in demand right now and Game needs to come off that list, he’s whack. If you’re gonna put jay on the list then nas should be on there too cus last time i checked it’s been a minute since a jay record. Nas is just as relevant as jay. Other than that i think that the list is pretty accurate. Jim Jones is definetly under rated! This list caters to rappers with “commercial” success, had it been a BET list I’m sure it would have been a testament to the real MC’s.

Jones is garbage……by the way Nfamous1 how could you want Kanye off the list….but I do agree Luda and Talib deserve to be on the list
Jones and 50 cent need to get off they need to add Lupe Fiasco and i also agree with Talib i dont agree too much with the #1 spot Lil Wayne WTF? he is good he deserves to be in the List but not #1
ya crazy talkin bout takin out andre 3000, if anything he should be more up in that list… but yea get jim jones the fuk off that list, and throw 50 cent with him. there are so many raw MC’s out there a top 10 can only consist of the more commercialized artists, and seeing MTV made this list that’s exactly what it is.
how can you say take 50 and andre off? every bodys been wantin andre in their songs lately and he makes them hits. 50 aint as big as he used to be, but hes still definatly relavent in the game. as for the person that said throw lupe on their, you crazy.
Yea Weezy is # 1 right now, take off 50 and add Lupe and put young jeezy higher on the list!!!!
loso should be the top 3 atleast, based on his lyrical skill (not his mainstream tracks)
Aight, I agree the list is pretty accurate, if you you strictly talking about present. I would scratch out The Game, and most definite Jim Jones. Maybe add an up an coming artist whom have made their mark, but not quite getting the respect they deserve, like Luda. Althought I represent I-10 between Texas and Louisiana, I wouldnt put a Bun B on that list. I would go for more underground starving artist like Zero or Pimp C.
May I ask how the hell Game is on the list at all? It specifcally says “the rappers in demand RIGHT NOW”. The Game is definitely not #3 RIGHT NOW. I’d have to agree w Weezy bein up there, but gotta give it to TI since until today, he’s been holdin that No. 1 spot down.. I’d definitely make some modifications to the list to answer the question accurately.

It’s MTV’s list, what can you expect… this is the same network that puts out some of the worst garbage on TV. Sweet 16, Parental Control, Room Raiders, oh lord what is the world coming to?!
It don’t matter Weezy is numba 1 that’s all that matters and ain’t none of those rappers topped him yet.
I don’t know why Lil Wayne is the #1 rapper right now. He’s so generic and his songs are terrible one after another. His flow is weak his voice is weaker and everyone knows he had a ghostwriter and one time and probably still does which means he’s not a real MC. Look at how he rapped on his first albums ( The Blocc is Hot, and Lights Out) and now looks how he raps. He’s the fakest rapper out and I’ll never support anything that he puts out he’s straight trash.

What they meant about top 10 mc was which rapper is most influential right now, Jimmy is on there cause he had the one single, but everyone copied his hood rock star, 50 is still on there becaue unfortunately he still influences hiphop, Lil wayne is up there cause he floods the market with mixtapes, n he has all high school kids coast 2 coast listening, its almost like 50 back in 02

I like T.I. (to an extent), but the only reason he is so hot right now is because when King dropped, there was no other competition. With TI vs TIP, he has a good gimmick & people buy anything.
P.S. Lil Wayne has come a long way since his Hot Boys days.
I aint sayin i agree even remotely wit this this list, in fact if based on the actual title : TOP TEN “EMCEES” half these artists would be off there.
In terms of in demand, hit singles that have recieved spins and commercial success as well as albulms or material released recently (WHICH MEANS 067 YEAR) a more accurate list would be atleast replacing jim “BAALLIN!!” jones wit yung joc.
Whose had more singles n i beleive 2 albulms out rite now in comparison to the 1 hit-wonder-jones who tripped over a song wita catchy hook n hot production jus about ne artist cudda merked witout tryin neway. all the work was done for em he cudda farted over that track n ppl wud still be feelin it (which he pretty much did wit his alzhiemer’s sp-ed flow.)
I’d replace jeezy wit fabo, especially since he far from n emcee (dude say it himself he a trapper not a rapper.) N i can see how the rest on there. wudda luv to see lupe or nas on there like most ya’ll but remember this MTV their understanding of a hip hop MC is just the opposite.
To them jay-z inventor of hip hop, G.O.A.T, n clutch n all there lists even when he’s “retired.”
Only half the people on this list have relevant bangers now… if the list is for success in the present then why do only a few have hot joints out right now. The hottest son today is “I get Money” by 50 hands down people may not like dude but you can’t deny fire when you here it anyways MTV’s list was not wassup so heres mine.

I give mad respect to anyone who makes it and who’s coming up in the business, specially rappers, its not easy breaking into the commercial scene. i think a rapper should only get full props if he’s rapped on different issues and not just money, hoes and clothes. I understand thats its strictly business, but there’s a lot more to talk bout than just fanticising bout the ‘party-life’. I think Guys like Common, Kanye, Nas, Talib, Mos Def, and many more deserve to be on that list, but as for current, if thats the question, i think ’50 cent’ and ‘The Game’ should take a long holiday, and Lil Wayne? Anyway, those folks have the statistics so they would know, for the record I dont fully agree with that list.
T.I. should be # 1 take jones off and andre put talib in and to all the people sayinn lupe lupe is good and he one of my favorites but i think he still needs to proove himself and game shouldnt be number 3 he should go down a little lower young jeezy i think is ok not the greatest and as much as it hurts me to say this cus i dont like him as a person or whatever but eminem has some flow to him

I think Jigga, Kanye, Nas, and Common would be higher up there. I dunno if I’d give Weezy the top spot, but the way he’s saturating the market and his sick rhymes are reason enough for him to be up there. I’m definitely not for quantifying the qualitative aspects of music. Its all about quality…and some people on that list just LACK substance. hahah but as long as Hurricane Chris and DJ Unk aren’t up there…..I’ll take that as “progress”.

No I don’t agree with that list.
I can’t say that i agree/disagree with this list because i don’t like too much Bull**** commercial radio MTV pop music. But one artist up there who is a real MC would be the game. The Game is not only a great gangsta rapper (with credibilty!!! which is something that B**** Wayne can’t say) but he is also a great lyricist. He is by far the best lyricist on that list (Jay-Z isn’t that amazing at this point, but don’t get me wrong Jay was great).

I just read some of your comments and god how are you guys sleeping on the game. I know i was sleeping on him till one day my friend forced me to listen to him. He dropped that Old English and BAM i was a game fan. You guys need to peep his album and underground s*** like that 300 Bars track. If you don’t like the game you probally only heard 1 or 2 of his songs (the MTV friendly songs which i admit arent that great)
