Actress Mary-Kate Olsen
The New York Times declared Full House star and multimillionaire Mary-Kate Olsen a fashion icon for pioneering her signature “homeless” look.
The style, sometimes referred to as “ashcan” or “Boho-chic”, consists of oversized sunglasses, boots, loose sweaters, and flowing skirts all with an aesthetic of mixing high end pieces with low end.

If you look at marc jacobs or, alexander wang etc etc, this year the luxury grun is the most wanted stile.
all the big fashion houses like marc jacobs, chloe etc etc wants the grunge look.
there is a reason that marykate has been on the cover of several magasines, like vogue which is a big and respected fashion magasin.
people like rihanna, and Ashley tisdale, Vannessa hudgens etc etc are also young and rich, but that doesnt make you a fashion icon.
A fashion Icon is a person who haves a stile that can mix very expensive things and cheap things and can give the stile a personal twist.
mary kate olsen is a fashion icon people have voted and agreed.
And for your record, Karl Lagerfield haves called her one of the biggest fashion icons.

I think people hold a certain grudge against her because of the drugs and such that has been going around celebrity news and magazines. She is a fashion icon to most people; people who are against the way she dresses just have different ideal tastes and perspectives of what is “style”.
