Nike track nominated for a Grammy
KRS-One, Kanye West, Nas and Rakim perform “Better Than I’ve Ever Been” at an Air Force One 25th Anniversary tribute party
The Nike-commissioned hip hop track “Classic (Better Than I’ve Ever Been)” has been nominated for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group at the 2008 Grammy Awards.
Featuring Kanye West, Nas, KRS-One and produced by Rick Rubin, the song was created to celebrate the 25th year anniversary of Nike’s iconic shoe, the Air Force 1.
“Better Than I’ve Ever Been” marks the first time Nike has ever commissioned a Grammy-nominated song in the company’s 35-year history.
The initiative was spearheaded by New York-based company Cornerstone Promotions.
“From the great talent to Nike’s commitment to the idea, everything aligned perfectly for us,” said Rob Stone, Co-President and Founder of Cornerstone. “To top it off with a Grammy nomination is an incredible honor.”

This track go so hard! Krs-one’s verse speak the truth about rap these days. I like Kanye’s verse too.
I’m diggin the track, all the artists no how to keep it real and know the sound of TRUE underground Hip-Hop. Kanyes’ got his lyrics down but his rapping pattern ALWAYS sounds the same, so i’m not a big fan. Other than that, its a pretty fresh collabo.
I thought it was produced by DJ Premier..
song isssss a classsic!!!!!!!!!!!!

the song was tight but I wish they pick someone more “MC feel” like Common in Kanye’s place instead. Kanye’s good but his pattern of rapping is so redundant.
