Nelly wears Troop at the 2007 BET Hip-Hop Awards
During an interview with DrJays.com’s Boss Lady at the MAGIC fashion tradeshow, Nelly exclusively revealed he is about to relaunch Troop Clothing.
Created in the Bronx, New York in 1986, Troop was one of the first brands to be adopted by the hip-hop community. Consisting of both apparel and footwear, the brand was popularized in the mainstream by pioneering rap acts like LL Cool J.
Nelly reintroduced Troop to a new generation of music fans during last year’s BET Hip-Hop Awards. He now adds the brand to his already successful female clothing line, Apple Bottoms.

Big ups to Nelly…Obviously these young cats never heard of TROOP(To Rule Over Oppressed People) Bring this clothing line back… it will remind us (ol skool heads) when hiphop was about originality, creativity,energy and hope. Brings us back to when the culture was new and exciting, that is what is missing in todays music….I am tired of this ring tone rap. I am tired of these wack clothes who sell themselves out in the first year, bring me back to when hiphop was still young. The culture needs to be flushed and revised again. I guess we shall start here.

I wish I could get that navy blue red and white jogg suit with TR on the front across the shoulder with OOP to the back in giant letters with TROOP down the leg. Man that suit was slammin with the gator cut snaekers to match. Come on Nelly you gotta do this thang. Especially for the “DIRTY SOUTH”.
