It was announced today that LL Cool J is launching a new clothing line to be sold exclusively in Sears, called (what else?) LL Cool J for Sears.
It’s a collection of casual gear for juniors (which means young women), girls, boys and young men.
“I have always had a hand in fashion in some capacity [as the face of brands such as Kangol and Fubu], but I have never embraced a brand the way I will embrace this,” LL Cool J tells Women’s Wear Daily.
“The LL Cool J name is a brand I have been building for 25 years and I didn’t want to do this line with just any store. I wanted to wait until I felt comfortable enough to take the leap.”
LL released the Todd Smith Collection earlier this year, of which DrJays.com is the exclusive online retailer. The question is, do you think LL Cool J is ready to launch an entire new line already?
guess he aint too busy with his time and todd smith line is flopping
I’ve seen the todd smith line n it looks like clothing sold at walmart with jacked up prices so I don’t think this line is gonna do any better…
I think he launched it in the wrong area. I know sears has clothes and stuff but. Putting it in sear is not going to get it recognized by people that know the LL cool J name. people go into sears for tools.
I think he needs to concentrate on making the todd smith line better then branch out.
Sears is definitely not the right store to sell to unless he’s catering to middle school kids who shop with their parents.
I don’t think it was about not wanting the brand to be in any store… it was more like, I’ll sell to whatever store I can get… SEARS??? Come on!
My mom wouldn’t even buy clothes from there now a days!
i really like the denim and some of the shirts look fit and cool but he still needs help with the other stuff, like the outerwear.

I love LL Cool J……… so hot! and damnnn…. look at that picture. I like Sears.. It isn’t the same as it used to be… now I love it there. You can put pieces of clothing together and they make HOT outfits. It’s worth it to check out, even more now that they carry LL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <33333
At least his only competition at Sears is Paco Jeans.But nobody wears that.I hope his brand is tight.That way it brings customers to Sears.
i think his timing was off for his clothing line personally. he should have released it when he was really hot and he had a buzz. it is going to be kind of hard to sell his brand expecially to the younger generation becuase of the gap of ages and they really not knowing who he is. but we will see what is going to happen. I’ve seen his clothing line on rip the run way last year and it seems real hot ! And stead of tearing him down help him grasp the aspect. He stands for something positive and good. Don’t try to be with the norm, stand out and help promote it. It’s domethin I’d definetly wear. Remember most of us ain’t got money, so he’s selling his stuff at an affordable rate. Just drop by his page on myspace and give him some feed back. And yes I’m 16 and I approve of what he’s doing all though I do agree he could have waited a minute.

I think it’s a very good thing that he’s putting it in Sears. At this juncture LL needs a partner to help get his wares out there. Sears is a good strategic partner that will put his items in front of people who spend money.
I will come away feeling better; I never get around to writing.
