Ashanti teams with Akademiks for limited tee
Ashanti’s The Declaration album drops tomorrow – June 3
Akademiks is teaming up with Ashanti to create a limited-edition t-shirt for her “I Declare Me” Campaign.
The campaign’s core is a very personal focus on the self-definition and empowerment of women across the United States.
“I believe in women’s empowerment and standing up for what you believe in,” says Ashanti. “‘I Declare Me’ is a campaign that addresses issues facing young people today such as voting, domestic violence, discrimination and eating disorders.
“I’m happy Akademiks has partnered with me on this project by creating the official ‘I Declare Me’ t-shirts,” she continues. “Get the shirt, wear the shirt and declare yourself, love yourself – ‘Declare Me’.”

Launching as a virtual community, the “I Declare Me” campaign will create a safe and inclusive on-line space to for women to share testimonies on the site. Participants will be able to openly declare their own breakthroughs, revelations, struggles and victories in every area of life they choose: career, birth, death, relationships, and personal situations.
“I Declare Me” also invites women to a virtual discussion with Ashanti on such issues as voter registration, teen obesity, and other concerns facing women today.
“We truly admire Ashanti’s position on female empowerment and are excited to partner with her for a worthy cause”, says Byron Kirkland, Akademiks’ Director of Marketing. “As a brand we have committed ourselves to portraying women in a positive light and this partnership with Ashanti is a perfect fit.”
