Obama’s take on sagging pants…
Barack Obama commented on the idea of passing a law against people wearing sagging pants during a recent interview with MTV:
“Here is my attitude: I think people passing a law against people wearing sagging pants is a waste of time. We should be focused on creating jobs, improving our schools, health care, dealing with the war in Iraq, and anybody, any public official, that is worrying about sagging pants probably needs to spend some time focusing on real problems out there. Having said that, brothers should pull up their pants. You are walking by your mother, your grandmother, your underwear is showing. What’s wrong with that? Come on. There are some issues that we face, that you don’t have to pass a law, but that doesn’t mean folks can’t have some sense and some respect for other people and, you know, some people might not want to see your underwear — I’m one of them”

Sagging pants is part of an enviroment and doesnt refect the individual I at one time did sag my jeans but I also made decent grades and wasnt incarinrated when I was around elderly people I pulled up my jeans when I went to a interview I dress appropreiate. Be do be warned your first impression is the one that lasts the most and its hard to change peoples views about you. If want to advance in life use the P.I.E mode P=performance how well you do your job I= Image this means how you dress how you look if you want to be taken serious dress like it… E= esposure= are people talking about you are you around the right people to be talked about?, if you want to advance you have be in the right places and the right people. We live in a image concious world and if you want to advance you got to play this game and know the rules and when you get good i mean really good that they eating out of hand then you can make the rules as you go just dont get too cocky or you can get put out the game!!! Good rulemaker examples Diddy, JayZ, 50 cent, Ludacris, Rusell Simmons, and people who are out the game Michael Jackson, Barry Bonds, O.J. Simpson these arte people who at they peak were greats but got put the game never get put out the game!!

I dont sag at all now and I dont have problem of ppl sagging cause i used to sag until i knew what it meant. obama got a point there. they need to stop paying attention to every little shit that ppl do on the streets everyday and start to worry about ppl that doesnt have any jobs, education, and housing. regardless of what cnn says obama gone make it happen best believe that.

There’s no doubt that President Elect Obama is absolutely correct in his assessment that there are broader, more important issues that this country needs to worry about. With that said, men (whether young or old) need to conduct themselves in a responsible, dignified manner… that would include one’s outer appearance. Even if a youngblood is earning good grades and has a job, why misrepresent yourself in the presence of others (particularly the elders) by looking like a fool? I hope folks are aware of the origins of this “sagging-pants” phenomenon, i.e., convicts in jail making other inmates aware that they want a little action (if you know what I mean).
We could sit here all night and argue whether one’s appearance is hurting anyone, however, when those jobs that President Obama is talking about are indeed created, I would hope that dudes would be rocking appropriate attire to the job interview so they can actually get those jobs.

I agree with obama. Some of my pants do sag, but it’s not that rediculous to the point where it’s an inconvienence and it looks retarded. I only do looks that have functionality to it. Your not gonna see me rockin shades at night or see my fitted at some crazy gravity defying angle.
People need to diversify there bonds, I mean their look. If your going to do it then do it clean. I look good in street gear cause I don’t rock it half assed like everyone else. When I do a suit I do it correct too.
But yeah guys need to up the game too for the jobs, plus the jobs are getting harder to get. If you don’t have a home or a comp, good luck to you.
I pull my pants up when its appropriate i could give a **** about a dress code if my shirt covers it and ive got on gym shorts then my draws aint out. I agree on some of the things he addressed, I don’t like to see males underwear and etc. but just because he is president-elect doesn’t mean he can call some peoples style “a waste of time”, that’s how some people like their clothing to be whether you like it or not, its really none of your business, worry more about the economy and etc. and leave the fashion tips and the decision to wear sagging pants to those that wear sagging pants.

I hate it when people just do stuff to piss off others just to “rebel” it’s pointless and a waste of a cause. Or create drama. Have you ever tried to run, jump or kick someone while your sagging? That’s why I like loose or roomy pants well that and you know lol. But to do it so you can get negative attention and then complain that your being hassled by the staff or man. Personally, I find nothing wrong about sagging pants, as long as ppl don’t see my underwear. I do sag my pants a little, but not like others whose pants are WAY below the waist, sometimes below the ass as if their pants are fallin’. It’s a good thing that Mr. Obama, our soon-to-be next president, called this almost-become law bill “a waste of time.”
When i’m at work, I tend to dress up more and keep my pants up to be more to show that i’m serious but once i’m off work, I wear whatever I want. I don’t think gov’t tellin’ what ppl to wear doesn’t work…believe me.

The saggy pants thing is really ugly. i hate the way it looks. Like i really wanna wake up in the morning that think “mumm.. i think i wanna see a boy’s draws today” (lol). Please, sagging isn’t even a necessity anymore. In the late 80′s/early 90s, the fit of jeans was tighter so it was necessary to sag to give them a more baggy appeal. Nowadays the fit of the jeans is already baggy, so sure you don’t want to have them pulled up to your belly button lookin like cleofus, but belt around the a$$, not below the a$$ to where you have to keep pullin them up or walk like a penguin is enuf. At that level you can tuck in your beater or undershirt and no one has to see your drawers. Then wear whatevershirt over the top and wallah!! As a female, I’m diggin guys that look clean, not 1996 thuggish. Oh and jaykay, yes girls that show their cleavage and thong in public are called “strippers”. LOL

What that tells me is that you don’t have a job and you live with grandma. Sag pants started in jail/prison because the law took their belt so they would’nt hang their sorry ass. And it was a sign to other boys that your back door was open for service.

I think that Obama is right. There are some residents of our public that go completely overboard sagging. I believe sagging is ok, in moderation. If they passed a law saying that you couldn’t expose more than such and such of your underwear, and not below your ass, then people would be much happier.
I think kids should have some freedom. When they mature more, they might realize what idiots they were. Some, never mature and end up being the bums you see. Sagging has NO relation to poor performance, but there are some situations where pulling em up helps (job interviews, work, parents and sometimes school) other times, you can hang them down some.
I only sag at school, and even then, I dont sag below my ass like a couple of the older students. Most of my group sag about half way down our a*s, but thats it
