Alex Rodriguez

New York Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez came clean about allegations that he used performance-enhancing drugs today.

The highest paid baseball player in history told ESPN said he used steroids “for a period of time” and only when he was with the Texas Rangers. Rodriguez played for Texas from 2001-2003 before being traded to the Yankees.

“When I arrived in Texas in 2001, I felt an enormous amount of pressure,” Rodriguez said. “I felt like I had all the weight of the world on top of me, and I needed to perform – and perform at a high level – every day.”

He went on to apologize, saying he was young, naiive and stupid at the time.

A-Rod is beautiful and what he did in the past is in the past. I have always wondered why they made a big deal out of men/women athletes taking the performance enhancing drugs. I feel that they are perfectly grown enough to know the consquences’ behind it and they shouldn’t take.

I think the big deal is for those who choose not to do performance enhancing drugs because of there consequences and side effects not having an equal playing field with those who do. If you allow performance enhancing drugs your encouraging drug use to be able to compete at a certain level. Many of these drugs are not exactly good for your body or the longevity of your health. Furthermore if you allow it in the pros you need to allow it from the minute a kid starts to play a sport forward, could be some interesting effects from that.

These individuals are also old enough to choose to do crack although we don’t encourage that either.
