While it’s harder and harder nowadays to find an R&B album that delivers from start to finish, Ryan Leslie’s self-titled debut does just that.

Anyone who’s picked up a copy of Ryan Leslie is passionate about their favorite tracks, including the romantic dedication “Valentine”, the heartfelt “Gibberish” or the futuristic-sounding “Just Right”. The singer/writer/producer manages to capture the gamut of emotions a man has when it comes to love, set against a truly luscious sonic backdrop.

Ryan Leslie wasn’t feeling too well when Boss Lady caught up with him at the Universal Motown offices recently (he was suffering from a throat condition) yet he happily proceeded with the interview. He talks about his excitement at the release of the oft-delayed album, his pioneering online promotional efforts, his “nerd chic” sense of style, and being a real-life Steve Urkel/Stefan Ur’kel (Family Matters).
