DrJays.com Debate: Is Angelina more powerful than Oprah?

Forbes has just released their list of the The World’s 100 Most Powerful Celebrities with Angelina Jolie dethroning Oprah Winfrey for the number one spot.
According to the magazine, the measure of “power” these famous names have is based on “money and fame”.
Angelina’s fame obviously catapulted her to the top of the list, because her June 2008-June 2009 total earnings of $27 million pale in comparison to Oprah’s whopping $275 million.
“When it comes to the fame component, Angelina soars,” Lacey Rose, senior reporter for Forbes, said on this morning’s Today show. “There’s always a new story to tell with her.”
Rounding out the top five on the list are Madonna with $110 million (her Hard Candy tour made $280 million), Beyoncé ($87 million from album sales, performances, Deréon sales, endorsement deals) and Tiger Woods ($110 million mainly from endorsements and appearance fees).

I think oprah is still the more powerful. Ok angelina has adopted kids, has her own kids done her share of donating money some things on world refugee day.
But lets face it if oprah said “spin, c-walk, then kick angelina jolie in the arse”. People of all ages, nationalities would come together spin, snoop would make bank on c walk courses, and angelina would have the Guinness book of world record for the amount of foot prints on a single bum. If angelina said kick oprah in the arse. people would probably say “heh she’s crazy but look at them eyes and lips… mmm sexay”. Then oprah followers would wait for instructions.
And that my friends is power.

Of course not. I think Forbes just wanted to ignite some controversy and attract readers. Angelina sells movies. Oprah sells books, movies, magazines, her favorite things, etc. She almost has an entire culture going on and many people subscribe to her philosophies. That is pure power. Plus, she has much more money than Angelina. I wonder what Forbes magazine attributes to Angelina’s # 1 ranking. Looking at 2/5, I would say that the writers like supposedly sexy women who adopt exotic children. Forbes is bogus, Oprah’s on top, and Angelina should be honored to be mentioned in the same sentence. Period.
Basically, what I’m saying is that Rick beat me to the punch again. Can’t argue with the guy.
