Artist Spotlight: Pleasure P
Album cover for The Introduction Of Marcus Cooper (Atlantic Records)
Pleasure P (real name Marcus Ramone Cooper) first attracted international attention as a member of Bluestar/Atlantic recording group, Pretty Ricky.
The 24 year-old artist just released his hugely anticipated debut album “The Introduction of Marcus Cooper” today.
He was quoted saying:
“The reason I named it that is because Pretty Ricky introduced you all to Pleasure P, but now Pleasure P is going to introduce you to Marcus Cooper, which is my government name. This time, I’m in my own lane musically – I’m grown up now. I’m talking about things that average R&B guys don’t talk about but that average people can relate to. My music is classier and I’ll tell you exactly how it is.”
“Boyfriend #2″, one of the hit singles from his new album, came in this week at #7 on Billboard’s “Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay” chart and #2 on BET’s 106 & Park.
Pleasure heralded the release of The Introduction of Marcus Cooper with a rapturously received live appearance at this weekend’s Hot 97 Summer Jam 2009 at New Jersey’s Giants Stadium.
“The New Bad-Boy of R&B” has also been featured in a wide array of publications and online outlets, including XXL, Black Men, Vibe, Hip Hop Weekly and more.
