Katy Perry sues…Katie Perry
Pop act Katy Perry, who may not be kissing Katie Perry any time soon
The Australian fashion community are rallying around Sydney designer Katie Perry, after she was sued by “namesake” Katy Perry, who is trying to force her to stop trading under her own name.
Aussie Katie was understandably shocked with the legal action, especially when you consider Katie Perry is her real name (as opposed to the singer Katy Perry, whose real name is Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson), she makes no claim to associate herself with the “I Kissed a Girl” Katy and she had been selling her “Katie Perry” designs (out of a small store and also her own website) a year before Katy’s music was released in Australia.
If Katie is forced to give up the business name, she estimates it will cost her around AU$17,000. She’s released a YouTube video pleading for understanding, from one K.Perry to another. In our opinion, she makes a lot of sense!
“I’m absolutely no threat to you…But at the moment, the only people who are making any money from this are the lawyers.”

But that’s messed up to sue someone especially when it’s their real name and their line has been around before the record appeared.

I actually like Katy Perry for her eccentricity, but she’s going way too far with this. Since Rick has beaten me out for Kiki and Cassie has shaved the side of her head, I thought Katy was my new main squeeze. Guess not. On to Livvi Franc!
