The prep look is coming to hip hop, period. Not just this summer, but it is here regardless. As times change and race relations gradually and slowly get better, we see more infusion between cultures. For the past few years, rappers have been trying to be rock stars (a trend that most likely started with the Jay-Z and Linkin Park mash-up album and it has exploded. Plus, there are artists like Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco to thank for their schoolboy and nerd-inspired styles. “Ralph Lauren was borin’ before I wore ‘em.” – Kanye West. I won’t even get started on skinny jeans. It’s been taking over for a while and I don’t think it will go anywhere soon. not real into shorts at all but button down is a must out here in the country. they keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. but as to skinny jeans and looking preppy that ain’t big out here. there’s not enough money to keep up with the “big city swagger” but we work with what we have. we still rocking plain tee’s but we buy’em to fit don’t nobody really rock big shirts down to they knee’s no more. straight fitted paints are much more desirable than nut huggers. girls got it better though out here there parents spend on them but guys are supposed to get jobs and spend on themselves and since there ain’t no jobs we struggling just to get enough clothes for the week. but its all good though
