Kiki attended the PROJECT trade show in NYC yesterday with DJPremium.com buyer, Jamila, and our intern, Chris.

The show is held bi-annually in NYC and Las Vegas and features many of our popular brands, like G-Shock, Vael, CAVI and many more.

As stated on PROJECT’s official website, the show “features the most influential and directional advanced contemporary brands in the marketplace today”.

PROJECT caters to the growing trend of premium sports/streetwear and designer denim.

Although the show was significantly on a smaller scale than previous years, there were many brands that came through with innovative and exciting products.

Check out some highlights:

This past weekend I ran into the rapper Kia Shine, and he was wearing a pair of fresh sneakers I just had to inquire about. He told me they were by a brand named Radii, which I had never heard of.

As soon as we got to the show, of course Radii’s booth was one of the first that we saw.

Boasting a collection of creative and colorful sneakers, the brand has received love from Jay-Z, Day 26, Black Eyed Peas’ Taboo and more.

Our sales rep Erin showed us the spring 2010 line, which had a very Romanesque feel. It consisted of the trademark rhinestone encrusted tees, tanks, leggings and also some cute dresses with gold chain straps.

Ed Hardy was also there, with buttery soft v-neck tees in pastel colors, track jackets, baseball caps and more.

Artful Dodger‘s upcoming collection has a grown-up and luxurious feel, with quality fabrics and details in wovens, outerwear, tees and more.

Overall, it seemed that many brands are producing heavily distressed premium denim, along with staple basic styles. The bleach-splattered trend was evident at the show.

Wide leg jeans are continuing to make a comeback, but skinny jeans aren’t exactly going anywhere either.

From walking the entire show, it seems that the clean, minimalistic trend is in full force.

Although many brands will experience continued success with bold graphics and embellishments, it seems a lot of them are paying more attention to details that add subtle and rich looks to items. Fabrics, stitching, buttons, washes etc. can have a huge impact on how quality a garment looks!
