What do you do when you’re an underground rapper needing to take your career to the next level? If you’re both forward-thinking and a student of hip-hop history like Mr. Mecca is, you enlist a crew of hungry MC’s and get the job done together.
To promote his new The Cover Run mixtape, Mr. Mecca (born Malik Rashawn in Jamaica, Queens) gathered the all-star New York lineup of himself, SkyZoo, Sha Stimuli, A. Pinks and Torae for the first single “Over Here”.
“After this, I don’t wanna hear that same old ‘all New York rappers are beefing with each other’ bullshit”, says Mr. Mecca.

“Over Here” also features cameos from Nina B, Sara Jay, Esso, Grafh and DrJays.com’s own Boss Lady, who pops up twice. The video is directed by Puma of TheProgram LLC.
The track is a tribute to Craig Mack‘s classic “Flava In Ya Ear (Remix)” from 1994, that also featured Notorious B.I.G, Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J and Diddy.
