Jay-Z talks about Rocawear’s 10th Anniversary
Jay-Z recently spoke to MTV about the concept for Rocawear‘s upcoming 10th Anniversary TV commercial.
With filming taking place in his home borough of Brooklyn, the ad is directed by Spike Lee and plays to the aspirational aspect of a clothing brand created in 1999 by Jay and then partners Damon Dash and Kareem “Biggs” Burke.
The brand kicked things off earlier this week with an exclusive event in the brand’s midtown New York headquarters.
The anticipation is now building for September, when more anniversary events are scheduled including the launch of the “Diamond Celebration” advertising campaign and official website, the launch of Jay-Z.com, the release of Blueprint 3 (the final installment of the Blueprint trilogy) plus a Madison Square Garden concert on September 11.

I thought Sean sold ‘Rocawear’ to someone. I am glad to hear he still owns it. Now, if they focus on the essential items of a wardrobe, including basic colors, the line will do well. If they continue as usual, We will continue to pick through alot of inferior material with the ‘Rocawear’ label on it. In my opinion, as a consumer, I am interested in black or red hoodies, white tee shirts with logos, dark-colored denim, heavy wool winter skull caps, clothing material chosen with the climate of the season in mind, etcetera.
