The Fresh Art: Ippei Gyobu
I’m a big fan of art, especially what’s considered contemporary art that is deemed low brow. What’s interesting is I don’t find anything low brow about it- much of the contemporary art scene is alive and thick with colors, metaphors and style that will continue to elevate art.
Nevertheless, I’m a huge fan of Japanese pop artist Ippei Gyobu. His work is extremely fresh with scenes that remind me of a futuristic Chicago or NYC. He’s a rising star whose work I’m sure we’ll all be seeing more of. So far he’s done sketches that mix music, fashion, and Sci-Fi- pretty much everything I love.

This is a illustration he did involving Adidas. I’m not sure if it was commissioned or not (possibly in Japan) but I would love to see more advertisements like this make way stateside. Make sure you check out more of Ippei’s work…the image above is only the tip of the iceberg.
