Tuesday night I had the wonderful opportunity to see the incredibly talented Melanie Hall, better known by her stage name Melanie Fiona, grace the stage at SOB’s in New York City. This young lady, who has even been co-signed by the likes of Jay-Z, performed several records off her debut album, The Bridge, including the hit, “Give It To Me Right.”

Melanie is a R&B singer-songwriter from Toronto, Canada. She was born to Guyanese immigrant parents and grew-up in the inner city of Toronto .

Living in a music filled household, Melanie says she always knew music was her passion. Her father was a guitarist in a band and would allow her to sit on the stage when she was younger as he practiced and remembers her mother playing music at home; everything from The Ronettes to Whitney Houston.

Melanie’s debut album The Bridge will be released on September 22nd 2009. The debut single “Give It to Me Right” was released to radio stations on February 28, 2009 and has peaked at #39 on Billboard‘s Canadian Hot 100.

Melanie opened for Kanye West during his European Tour in 2008, notable since she hadn’t released an album at the time!
