Columbia Pictures is developing a third installment of the high-octane Bad Boys franchise, tapping Peter Craig to pen the screenplay.

The hope is to have a script that would reunite director Michael Bay, producer Jerry Bruckheimer, with stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. At this point with the project in the early stages, neither of these men have a deal to return.

The Bad Boys movies feature Smith and Lawrence as Miami detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, caught up in cases involving car chases and explosions.

The first one released in 1995, helping launch Bay as a director Smith as an action star, even though it was not a fire-stamped blockbuster. It grossed $66 million domestically and $141 million worldwide.

The sequel released in 2003, when Bay and Smith’s stars had risen, grossing $138 million domestically and $273 million worldwide.

All parties have expressed a willingness to return if a story can be hammered out.

However, one potential hurdle would be the costly deals with the players.

Depends on if you can afford Will 22 million dollar request then Martins 12 million request it has to be a summer blockbuster it will do 100 million in a month so I say its worth none these movies have any substance just a girl guns money drugs explosions and jokes from Will and Martin and some up and coming stars it would be nice to see maybe Michael Jai White as a bad guy and Samuel but that would be asking to much lol And some hot chick like Joy Bryant and Michelle Rodriques

Michael Bay is one of the worst directors in the business. I hope he doesn’t do this movie.

Yeah lux micheal jai white is the man. I hope this doesn’t end up like how Rush Hour 3 ended up. I hope they take their time and do it up good. And not half assly (it’s a word now) toss in things because it was in 1 & 2 like RH3 did. Bad boys takes you through a roller coaster that you want to go on again and again.

Also the supporting casts were good too. They got to have them in there. Will smith got major acting skills and is one of the few people that I feel is actually worth 22mil. They need more than one hot chick. Michelle would be a good edition to it though.

  • HOLD UP! So does this mean Martin won’t do Skank Robbers? (Kidding, people…)

  • I can see Martin signing up for part 3, but Will not so much…
