Shawne Merriman Denies Choking Reality Star Tila Tequila
NFL athlete Shawne Merriman was arrested and accused Sunday of throwing and choking MTV reality star Tila Tequila, after Tequila tried to leave his home early that morning. According to ESPN.com, “Tequila signed a citizen’s arrest warrant charging Merriman with battery and false imprisonment.”
After spending over two hours in jail and released on bail, Merriman said at Monday night’s practice that he’s sure everything will be cleared. The linebacker said that he was trying to look after his girlfriend’s well-being and concerned about her safety, when realizing she was intoxicated.
The San Diego Chargers star is accused of committing two felonies.
Via Twitter, Tequila was said to have stated, “I am allergic to alcohol. It has been publicly known for years. That is how I got the name Tila “Tequila” cuz the irony. I cant drink.”
Merriman is known as being one of the NFL’s hardest hitting players and the boyfriend to the bi-sexual playmate. The Charger was also tested positive in 2006 for steroids.
Merriman, 25, and Tequila 27, are both known as being OK at this moment.
