DrJays.com Debate: What Are Your Top 5 Blueprint Songs?

Yes, everybody who hasn’t heard the leaked version of Jay-Z‘s The Blueprint 3 is pretty excited about its arrival. With The Blueprint Collector’s Edition hitting stores today, as well as the well anticipated album, we wanted to know which songs are your favorite tracks from the three part collection? Is it from the classic 2001 release, The Blueprint or is it from the double-disk The Blueprint 2? Your favorite songs could even be from his latest effort, The Blueprint 3. Think about it…

I’ve decided to give my top five favorite Jay-Z records from The Blueprint collection. Here they are (and in this order):
- “Never Change” produced by Just Blaze
- “Blueprint” (My Momma Loves Me) produced by Bink
- “I Did It My Way” produced by Jimmy Kendrix & Big Chuck
- “U Don’t Know” produced by Just Blaze
- “D.O.A.” produced by No. I.D. & Kanye West
“Never Change” comes in as number one because every time I hear that record, I want to go back to my old block, play tag and just hug my friends and family. ::Laughs:: Just Blaze killed it.
All five of these records embody passion and a huge deal of emotion. They remind me of what hip-hop and my environment used to be. These records confirm that being an individual and having a story makes us who we are as people. It’s OK to go against the grain and simply be YOU. Low key, these beats and samples are also bananas.
Let us know your top five Blueprint songs and give us your reasoning. Paz!

AHLOT,
LOVE this post and “Never Change” has to be my favorite track on The Blueprint also
Jay sounds more relaxed and in control on this track than any other on the first Blueprint album; sure of himself with a “take me as I am” attitude that I love.
If I must pick five tracks:
-”Never Change”
-”U Don’t Know”
-”Empire State Of Mind”
-”Song Cry”
-”03 Bonnie & Clyde” (aaah…memories)
Plus pretty much all of ‘em…this list may change too (diehard fan over here!)
