Marc Ecko

The NYPost.com reported today that Marc Ecko may very well be losing majority of his brand.

The designer is apparently drowning in debt and on the verge of bankruptcy.

Iconix, the apparel giant who also owns 50% of Ed Hardy, may soon be acquiring at least 51% of the Ecko brand.

If the deal is sealed, Iconix would be paying up half of the debt that Ecko has incurred, which is in the hundreds of millions of dollars!

In an attempt to make a dent in his debt, Ecko began selling off licenses and brands this past summer, including Avirex.

The brand is still operating in their midtown Manhattan showroom, but this deal could be made within the next couple of weeks.

Hmm…

I wonder if having a 280,000-square-foot showroom equipped with a full basketball court and accommodating many huge open-bar parties had anything to do with it…

Your thoughts?

Ecko and Ecko Red are still alive and well on DrJays.com, for men women and children – check it out.

I stopped rockin ecko for a few reasons. I’ll leave it at that. If it does crumble then that’s going to suck history wise.

Ecko had his time. His brand is wack now. The rhino is tired. Some people here and there still wear Ecko but the majority could care less
for it. Every time I go in Macy’s I ask myself why are they still carrying Ecko. Maybe because he’s paying for floor space and nobody’s buying.

Just as the people said before me, it was cool some seasons ago, Ecko unlimited is now boring and too big. Marck Ecko Cut&Sew is better.

They stopped selling ecko around here. Everyone around here used to wear ecko including me(pretty much the only brand i wore for t-shirts). Which i why i was schocked to see them stop selling it. The last couple years i started disliking the brand anyway. They started making the t-shirts alot smaller, a 3xl was like a medium, small little sleeves, alot of v-necks, really thin material, etc. Well all good things must come to an end i guess.
