Fall Nail Trend: Matte is the New Luster

I’ve always been a nail polish fanatic but there was a time when I would have scuffed at the idea of matte nails. I was all about the shine. In fact, the glossier, the better. However, nowadays I’m open to the idea of less luster. Matte nails are in for the Fall and I’ve been discovering cool colors from brands like Zoya and Orly. But what if you’re not trying to spend extra money on whole new polishes? Don’t worry, there’s a solution—do it yourself matte polish.

China Glaze has just released “Matte Magic.” This way, you can choose colors that you already have to matte-ify! I did some research and stumbled upon the All Lacquered Up blog where the owner graciously demonstrated this innovative top coat’s transforming affects:

Now that’s pretty cool! I also found another matte top coat by Essie.

I think I’m going to go with the China Glaze version because it’s cheaper. I can’t wait to order mine. By the way, there’s a site called 8ty 8 Beauty that you should google. They have tons of name brand polish for cheap and may even have these matte top coats that you so desire. But you didn’t hear that from me. ;0)

I bought Essies matte about you straight from their website about 6 weeks ago because I couldnt’ wait for it to get into the stores and it is fab! However I want to pass along to anyone who wants to try the look before buying any matte colors or matte top coats, my awesome nail artist told me that using your base coat as a top coat will produce the same results! Now I haven’t tried it because I already bought this new mattifier so dang it I’m gonna use it, but thought someone might want to try it before they spend $ they may not have to!
I’d love to know if it works, so let me know if you try it!
