Lamar Odom Marries Khloe Kardashian
Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian
I’d hate to say this but… Cue that Kanye song, how does it go? ”I ain’t sayin’ she a gold digger/ but she ain’t messin with no broke, broke.” Yeah, that’s it.
Los Angeles Laker (and therefore NBA CHAMPION – sorry, the Lakers and Cavs are my teams) Lamar Odom aka the 33 million-dollar-man has tied the knot with Khloe Kardashian. Does dating athletes run in the family? If so, I predict that Dennis Rodman will nab Kourtney within the coming months. The couple have known each other for a very long, er, month. This is the first marriage for both of them, although Odom has two children from previous relationships.
To make matters worse, they met at a Ron Artest party – and he cosigns their marriage. Hmm, really? Ron Artest? The guy can play basketball with the best of them, and he made it out of the hood – I’ll give him those. But if that’s the person who thinks you made a good decision, maybe you should reconsider. Seriously, it’s like George Bush supporting your presidential bid.
Why the rush? Sources report that the two wanted to get married before the Lakers’ first preseason game (slated for October 7). Those are the facts, read further for my opinion.
Uhh… I don’t think one month is enough time to know someone before you decide to marry them – even if Odom watched every episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. There are certain reasons that lead me to this conclusion. One being that there is a pressure to impress during the first few months (or years, for that matter). That means that the familiarity is not there – and neither is the liberation – to really be ourselves around those that we have feelings for. To put it simply, we’re frontin’ for the first few weeks and we have to really get to know one another before the “real us” comes out. Chris Rock says it better than I can (scroll forward to 1:32):
Not only that, but how many things do you get to know about a person in a month? Favorite color, favorite song, favorite movie – then walk down the aisle? In all fairness to Khloe, maybe she’s not a gold digger. Maybe Ron Artest isn’t as crazy as many of us think, and maybe they’ll both be fine. It’s a long shot, but Lamar Odom doesn’t have many problems making those.
I sure hope he got that prenup, though. Your thoughts?
