I get a lot of music in my inbox and honestly bypass most of it but check out newcomer J.Y. I posted some singles from him a couple of weeks ago, but he leaked more ear candy. The latest track is “Last Shall Be First,” from his forthcoming ep The Hiring Process.
About J.Y:
He began building a buzz with the release of last summer’s critically acclaimed mixtape, It’s Daddy, which spawned the street hit “Tell Me What it is (Remix),” featuring Joe Budden and Cory Gunz.
Due to the success generated by It’s Daddy, J.Y was awarded the coveted Underground Music Award for Best Performance. He returned this summer with the video for his latest single “Bring It Back,” which scored features by top hip-hop news outlets like All Hip Hop, 2 Dope Boyz, Nah Right, On Smash, Hiphopdx and more. “Bring it Back” (now available for download) is a soulful ode to hip-hop music–when it wasn’t about Auto-Tune and hooks, but more focused on lyrics and boom bap–off his forthcoming EP, The Hiring Process, and features guest appearances by Rell, Freeway, Young Chris and Cory Gunz, with production by Rocwilder, Young Hype, and Adante Ace.
