Oh, Lawd…Bob Johnson Re-Discovered The Internet!

I guess since he can’t suck the blood out of music anymore, former BET CEO (and founder) Bob Johnson is setting his sights on the growing Internet business.
My friends and I have talked about the written word’s growing irrelevance on the Web in place for video, and with Bob Johnson doing “Point of You,” he needs to get money from somewhere. That’s where his next project comes into play.
Johnson looks to be launching another site. The site will focus on fees to content producers and will place focus on his philanthropic side. Called ClubCharity.com, the site plans to launch this Fall and will make it hip to be charitable on the web.
I can’t call bullmalarkey on this yet because while it sounds like an Internet hustle worthy of some Bono shine time, the site may possibly link up with CharityBids.org which was founded in 2007 by a group of young community activists who have built their rep on the subject, thereby giving Bob Johnson a co-signer.
Items being donated from the celebrity elite have already poured in. Tiger Woods, Beyoncé and Emmit Smith just to name a few…but taking my dislike out of the equation… who will benefit most from this endeavor – the one’s giving or the one’s getting?
YOU be the judge. Share your thoughts in the comments section!
