Mo’Nique Breaks Barriers With New Talk Show

Award-winning actress and comedienne Mo’Nique is set to change the landscape of late-night television through her new show, aptly named The Mo’Nique Show.
With tonight’s one-hour premiere, the Queen of Comedy will officially become the first ever black woman to host her own late night talk show. Featuring celebrity guests, a resident DJ, musical performances and more, the show promises to keep viewers entertained.
Mo’Nique had this to say about the new endeavor:
“I’m very excited to finally bring my signature voice and comedy to late night television. This show will definitely give BET viewers the late night show experience, but at the same time, offer something uniquely different to the late show circuit, and I can’t think of a better home to welcome cable’s late night female host but BET.”
The Mo’Nique Show will air weeknights at 11PM on BET. Leading guests will include Steve Harvey, Mayor Shirley Franklin and DrJays.com’s “Summer Sensation 2009″ star Jeremih.
Does Mo’Nique have what it takes to sustain a show in the competitive world of late night?

Yes she does, I think personally that shes a well spoken women, and would be perfect for the job.
I don’t think this show will last. I tuned in to Bet tonight hoping to catch The Wendy Williams Show but instead saw Monique walking out screaming. I turned the channel as soon as possible. I understand that The Monique Show is a Bet original so they have to show it preference to The Wendy Williams Show(which is a nationally syndicated Talk Show.) This is sort of a last ditch effort for Monique. She tried to do radio, but we all know that went straight to hell. Now it’s television, and it’s only on Bet. I give it a few months. Bring Wendy back to 11. I have class on Monday’s and Wednesdays when it’s on Fox.
When I turned to see Wendy Williams last night at eleven, I got some MoNique. I was mad. She comes out screaming and dancing. Then she was calling everybody sugar and stuff. That was truely annoying. I always watch Wendy on BET because either I’m sleep early or I’m at class. I don’t like this.
Sorry to disappoint you but Woopi Goldberg was the 1st black female to have a late night show in 1992.
Screaming and yelling is part of Mo’s persona, we have a choice…. change the channel! All of these talk shows are not just about the host or hostess the guest is important too! What about being happy for the squirrel that got the nut!!!!
Hi Monique,
October 14, 2009
To be honest, I have not seen or heard about your show, but I have always liked you for your openess and great personality. My sister
actually saw your show and thought it was nice and she suggested that I send you a note to have my two daughters feature on your show because of their talents. My 12 year old is a song writer, poet, she play the piano and is now learning to play by air. My 9 soon to be nine year old in a few weeks has a CD done by her school but I don’t have the means to captalized on this without being exploited. I was strongly advice to do all I can to have it reproduce with sole rights becaue it was written and produce by my daughet, the school only put the music she picked for it. I need the world to see and hear my girls but I don’t know how and where to begin. I even wanted them to meet with Tyler Perry, they love him, to see how they can fit into his production and all. If I have to relocat I will, just for them to be better. I don’t have the money, I don’t have the connection, I don’t have the college funds, I don’t have a lot of things, but two hope I do have is my two beautiful little girls whom the world need to see and hear. I am presently trying to put together a book of shot stories and poems they and written along with the CD of their voices but I need a noteable reconnection to see if I can get their first of many books and CDs publish.
If in anyway you can help or forward me to someone and will only be too happy.
Love,
Proud Mama
I like monique I think that she is smart, pretty, fun and intelligent. I totally understand why she lost weight because of health issues and she wanted to live longer, but is it a healthy financial move?
