Try The Trend: Colored Mascara

Mascara trends for fall are back and surprisingly, not in black – colored mascaras are in style this season.
Anyone can rock this trend, even if you like to keep your makeup more on the conservative side. Classic chicas can opt for more neutral colors like copper, brown and burgandy, while more daring divas can go for bright colors like pink, purple and teal.

Shades of Purple: Make gorgeous green, blue, or hazel eyes stand out even more.
Shades of Blue: Awesome for brown and hazel eyes. Makes blue eyes bluer; keeps the rocker chick edge. Blue, especially navy, can also make the whites of the eyes appear whiter.
Shades of Green: Beyond beautiful for the brown eyed babes and hazel eyed hotties, bringing out the green and gold flecks on the iris.
Tip: Keep in mind that these colored mascaras are going to draw the attention to your lashes with the color, not necessarily the texture/volume/length like your classic black and brown mascaras will do. You may want to try layering them over your regular mascara or try using them over a mascara primer.
If you want to cop it and rock it, you can find colored mascara to fit pretty much any budget. NYX, Estee Lauder and Urban Decay are making some of the ones that are receiving rave reviews this season. The NYX ones are only $5.00 a pop so you definitely won’t break the bank with those.
Or you can even make your own colored mascara! Here’s how:
1. Apply your usual mascara. (I still advocate applying a lash primer first)
2. Before it dries, use a flat eyeshadow brush to pat the color of your choice on top of your lashes while looking down – be careful not to get any in your eyes, though (loose pigments and powder shadows will work best for this). Or you can try using a clean disposable mascara wand dipped in loose powder to apply the color.
