Event Recap: Heineken Red Star Soul Hits NYC
Ludacris and Nas on stage at Heineken’s Red Star Soul event (NYC)
More than just a beer distillery, Heineken proved they have soul once again by sponsoring the fourth annual “Heineken Red Star Soul Music Showcase” in NYC over the weekend.
Located in the iconic Gotham Hall, the large crowd was treated to sizzling performances from today’s chart toppers, Ludacris, Estelle and Wale – along with a surprise appearance from Nas! The event was even laced with a little comedy from comedian Godfrey C. Danchimah.
Up and coming hip-hop star Wale performed some of his not so well-known songs, and then woke up the crowd with his smash hit “Chillin”. He was followed by hip-hop vet DJ Biz Markie who lead the crowd in reciting the words to his signature hit, “Just a Friend”.
The talented and ever stylish Estelle gave a dazzling show, keeping the crowd engaged throughout her performance with tracks like “In The Rain” and of course, “American Boy.”

Headliner Ludacris kept the crowd rolling as he sang a good number of his most popular hits, but the highlight of the night was when his surprise guest Nas took to the stage.
It seemed as though the intoxicated blur of the night sharpened when everyone took notice that the self-proclaimed ‘God Son’ was in the building. With videophones and recorders of all sort in hand the crowd did their part in documenting Nas’ cataloged hits.

When Nas finished his set, he returned the mic to Luda who closed out the show with the brilliantly fitting “One More Drink”.
