Please, Mr. Chappelle, Come Back To Comedy!!!
Dave Chappelle tried to set the record the longest stand-up routine in the history of Los Angeles’ legendary Laugh Factory comedy club, but nature called, ruining his act. Find out what happened after the jump.
He was about five hours into his routine on Sunday, when the funny man stepped away to take a pee and was disqualified as per the rules to “endurance comedy.”
According to the Associated Press, Jamie Masada said the only rules were “to continuously tell jokes that are funny and that you can’t leave the stage.”
You can imagine how pissed the crowd was about that…
So, the record still belongs to Dane Cook, who’s record of 7 hours and 34 minutes put the nail in the late Richard Pryor’s Laugh Factory record of 2 hours and 41 minutes in 1980. He originally broke Pryor’s record with a 3 hour, 50 minute set.
While Cook and Chappelle have went back and forth in setting and resetting the record over the years, my plea is simply this:
“Come back with another show, Dave! A special, a holiday roast, something! Let the world laugh, especially during these trying times!”
What do you think? What would you like Dave to do? Come back or stay retired? Speak on it below!
