Louis Vuitton Reproduces The First Aid Kit
Paying tribute to the 150-year anniversary of the Red Cross, fashion house Louis Vuitton recently revealed this boîte spéciale.
Featuring Louis Vuitton’s famous monogram print, the large box is equipped with a natural leather handle, brass S-lock and corners, and the Red Cross logo hand-painted on the front. Inside, a smooth box lining complements a series of red and gray aluminum medicine cases arranged to again form a red cross.
Managing Director of the French Red Cross, Oliver Brault, had this to say:
“When Louis Vuitton, the world-famous company informed us of its ambition to reproduce the original first aid kit, inspired by the 1914 pattern, we were looking forward to seeing the result. The final design is superb. With its pure aesthetics, it has the highest symbolic value, representing the power of its red cross.”
In further support, all throughout the month of November, Louis Vuitton will be donating 10 percent of the purchase price of select items to the American Red Cross.
On November 17, a charity auction will also be held at Sotheby’s in London to benefit the French branch – la Croix-Rouge. Contributions include unique pieces by artists Damien Hirst and Annie Leibovitz as well as Marc Jacobs.
