Mo’Nique Is Precious!
Mo’Nique has been doing comedy for ages, it seems, and she’s pretty darn good at it. After giving audiences her brand of funny with The Parkers, Mo has done her thing within the black entertainment field. Now, her new movie, Precious, is not only giving her some Oscar worthy buzz, but it may finally break her out of the black entertainment mold and into a more diverse genre.
The reaction for Precious is positive and folks can’t rave enough about the comedianne’s portrayal in Sapphire’s novel-turned-film as an abusive mother. Life may have imitated art as the funny-woman recently opened up to People Magazine about the sexual abuse she allegedly suffered at the hands of her eldest brother.
The 41-year-old big gurl are saying that she’ll be an Oscar nominee and if so, hopefully this’ll allow her to branch outside of doing flicks like Soul Plane. A step in the right direction is The Mo’Nique Show – a new late night talk show that runs on BET. “When that curtain opens, I’m a kid that has no limit on all the candy she can have,” Mo says to People.com. Now, she’s getting her sweet tooth full, the next journey in this beautiful woman’s life is hopefully to the top.
