VIDEO: Lady Gaga Goes Psycho In “Bad Romance”
Lady Gaga is impervious to predictions. Hate all you want, but she’s the new hotness and she’s not going anywhere no time soon. Her new video is part homage to Stanley Kubrick with lyrics dedicated to Alfred Hitchcock. You can see the video for “Bad Romance” after the jump.
I didn’t know Akon signed her to his label in a joint venture with Interscope. So, right there, my hat off to the Konvict CEO for seeing talent in someone that originally was dropped from Def Jam when she was 19.
The video “Bad Romance” is her craziest and brightest canvas she’s painted yet. Collaborating with director Frances Lawrence and her own insanely dubious mind, the video premiered today on the singer/songwriter’s own website. When she spoke to MTV News about working with Lawrence, this is what she had to say:
“I knew [Lawrence's] ability as a director is so much higher than what I could [do].” “There’s this one shot in the video where I get kidnapped by supermodels. I’m washing away my sins and they shove vodka down my throat to drug me up before they sell me off to the Russian mafia.”
An interconnecting plot-line, yes, but with pyrotechnics, a few NSFW [not-safe-for-work] moments and enough creepy hairless cats and subconscious product placement (her Heartbeats headphones…) to make her fans go ga-ga for Gaga.
Her otherworldly fashion, insane dancing (she does an ‘Where the Wild Things Are‘-inspired dance) and crazy appeal makes “Bad Romance” one of a kind, visually. If you haven’t seen it already, check it out below.
