I find myself singing: “Maybe there’s a shark in water…” and doing two steps more than often to a record sung by a gifted artist from the UK. The blissful noise reminds me of good ole’ quality music. The voice behind the song is 26-year-old V V Brown.  After doing quite a bit of research, this “fly girl” is not some ordinary singer with ordinary style with ordinary sounds – this girl is a vocal sensation.

Not only is she a gifted musician but a true fashionista who’s had runway appearances at London Fashion Week and at supermodel Naomi Campbell‘s charity event. She’ll soon launch a site dedicated to: “retro fashion in a modern context.” For the record, her individual style screams, “DOPE!”

The stylish singer and songwriter digitally released an American EP on October 29, 2009 entitled The Attic EP. It has a four-track tracklisting that includes: “Game Over,” “Quick Fix,” “Crying Blood (Andrew Weatherall Remix)” and an acoustic cover of “Shark in the Water.” – which are all songs that will be on her upcoming album.

Her first U.S. physical release is a 7-inch single, scheduled for November 17th called, “LEAVE!” (that’s tomorrow world).

Brown’s music can be heard on MTV‘s “The City,” ABC‘s “Desperate Housewives,” “CSI:NY” and on the CW‘s top-rated new show, “The Vampire Diaries.”

Read some of her recent praises from around the globe:

“It has so much attitude! And it just exudes fierceness!!!” - Perez Hilton

“V V Brown makes pop music from another planet - a world that resembles ours, but is a lot more fun and unpredictable.”- Interview Magazine

“…a set of pipes that rivals Amy Winehouse‘s and great style to boot…” – WWD

“A one-woman sound-clashing whirlwind, she oozes glamour…Electrifying.” - NME

“Spector-ish pop as slick as her black pompadour…her vocal shines through every track.”  - Elle Magazine

With that, check out one of my favorite songs, “Shark in the Water” (unplugged):

Be sure to check for Brown, as she takes the world by storm.
