Miike Snow Is Some Animals!

Sweden has always been breeding ground for incredibly talented musicians, from Lykke Li and Peter Bjorn and John to Adam Tensta and Little Dragon.
Even Ace of Base and The Cardigans hail from the small Nordic nation (remember those guys!?). Most recently, I was put onto a group called Miike Snow, and I haven’t heard any indie pop this good in a minute.
What makes these guys so good? Well, maybe it’s because two out of the three members are Avant & Bloodshy, the production duo that created Britney Spears’ “Toxic” and tons of other pop hits that even the most gangster individual could bop to at least a little bit. Or it could be that the remixes, blends, and mash-ups of their tracks have the blogosphere going nuts.
Whatever the case may be, these are some funky dudes. I figure it’d only be right to bless you with a taste of my favorite track by them, “Animal”, as well as a Mark Ronson reggae/ska version of the same track that’ll make your mouth water. I’m not even playing.

Yeah, you just heard that. I’d go buy that debut album right about now, but if you really need more, go to their MySpace and jam the tracks they’ve put up. These guys got my money via iTunes, so they might as well get yours, too.
Oh, and they’ve just booked their UK/US tour through early 2010; dates here. You’ll see me at the DC show stop.

YOOOOO, these dudes are tooo DOPE….I’m in love, no kneepads…
Never heard of these dudes but after checking out, they’re on my radar. A good group to dig into is mattafix.
I like them. Definitely a smooth sound that is both mellow and foot-tappable at the same time. Thanks Modi for putting me on to them, looking up the concert dates and downloading music at the moment.
Speaking of the Cardigans… where did they go?
As usual the Mark Ronson remix is on point. not bad. a nice chill relax and think about life track IMO
I’VE BEEN TRYING TO FIND AN MP3 OF THE MARK RONSON REMIX FOR FOREVER! THANKS MODI!
YO! MRonson remix finally available for DL – thanks for the note! Love the timely posts. Gonna check out the full album for sure.
ModiMAN, you never fail me with the new music; definitely a good and fresh sound!
Been jamming their records religiously for the past few months. I think Black & Blue or Song For No One are the best cuts from album.
I would compare their stuff to MGMT; I like these guys a bit more though.
these dudes got a nice vibe to their tunes, solid.
Definitely an ill group, artists from across the pond always seem so much more creative than U.S. bred musicians. There is freedom in their music, love the Mark Ronson track
they’re going on tour? sounds like a greeaaaaat live show… went to the myspace page… performances prove me right.. bring a good date!
Mark Ronson remix is pretty nice.
Yeah Miike Snow is legit. Animal is a great jam — if you’re into it, check out the music video for “Black and Blue”
Once again, u put me on game…great post
I like them. I like the vibe. Thanks!! Concert 2010… I am there.
Honestly, Treasure Fingers has a WAY doper remix of “Animal” than Mark Ronson’s (although I heart that talented brit)- plus it came out first lol.
Nevertheless I’m pleasantly surprised to see there are some other electro heads on the blogroll.

Also “Black & Blue” and all its remixes are killer.
p.s. lykke li borderline sucks, BORDERLINE
hahaha!
ok i’ll give the animal treasure remix a spin. no problem. i doubt it’s better, but we’ll see. i’ll come back in a bit and let you know how i feel.
and yep. i’m eclectic. i got that boosie, but i got that crystal castles, too. i’m more versatile than optimus prime. in his prime. but that’s another story.
and nah, lykke li has some cool jams. and after watching her nardwuar interview, which i actually think i blogged on dr. jays (if not, i put it on my own blog, DCtoBC.com), i gained a lot more respect for her. i bet you’d do the same if you saw it, too. let’s get it.
Yo, Nardwuar is bonkers isn’t he? I first saw him interview Janelle Monae and I was like ‘this guy is awesome!’ lol. His interview with Nas is PRICELESS, and so is his Jay Z interview.
But yeah, Crystal Castles is auditory crack, so is WhoMadeWho- definitely one of the most slept on acts right now- stand out tracks “Keep me on my plane” and “Working after midnight”
