Drake‘s So Far Gone has been crowned Mixtape Of The Year by MTV just days after the 23 year-old “Best I Ever Had” rapper picked up two Grammy nominations for Best Rap Song and Best Solo Rap Performance. Success is just around the corner for Young Money‘s very own.

If the simultaneous swooning in the club at the drop of a Drake record was no indication that things were about to get real serious, then maybe it was the constant air play or everybody suddenly having the energy to go hard on the treadmill; running to the rhythm of the flow heard ’round the world.

From the internet to the streets to “Houstatlantavegas”, he’s unstoppable and never allowed minor details (like torn knee ligaments) to interrupt the climb. Peep MTV’s announcement and Drake’s Grammy night competition after the jump.

Here are the nominees for Best Rap Song:
Drake- “Best I Ever Had”
Kid Cudi- “Day ‘N Night”
T.I and Justin Timberlake- “Dead ‘N Gone”
Jay Z- “D.O.A (Death of Auto-Tune)”
Jay Z feat. Kanye West and Rihanna- “Run This Town”

Here are the nominees for Best Solo Rap Performance:
Drake- “Best I Ever Had”
Eminem- “Beautiful”
Jay Z- “D.O.A (Death of Auto-Tune)”
Kid Cudi- “Day ‘N Night”
Mos Def- “Casa Boy

    I Say…

    And And Solo’d Be…
    Know It Ain’t Nominated But:

Bring Back “One Mic” by Nas.
    haha It’s Old, But It’s Classic…

  • Oops says:

ok, don’t get me wrong and don’t hate me for what I’m about to say because So Far Gone did damage AND is fire, but…

    Wiz Khalifa
    P.SO
    Fresh Daily
    J. Cole
    XV
    Dom Kennedy
    g5 Clive

all had mixtapes at least as good, just more under the radar. And those are just a few of the ones I know about, let alone ones every one else may have heard. So…where does MTV get of naming a “mixtape of the year” when they barely listen to the things without a big name like Wayne behind them?

But still, props to Drake, because So Far Gone was and is still FIRE.

I really didn’t like So Far Gone at all…I really don’t like Drake at all actually. Give that solo award to Mos.
