Charlotte Ronson Takes Things In Her Own Hands

Fashion designer Charlotte Ronson is taking control of her brand like never before.
After five years, Ronson (sister to producer Mark Ronson and DJ Samantha Ronson) has parted ways with her Japanese licensee, Sanei International, bringing all operations in-house to her New York office.
“We felt that there was beginning to be too much of a disconnect between the product in the U.S. and the product in Japan,” Ronson tells Women’s Wear Daily. “It just felt a little young in Japan and not up to the level that it is in the States.”
In the US, Charlotte Ronson is sold at higher-end specialty stores and online retailers such as our sister site, DJPremium.com. In Japan, the label is sold in much younger stores such as Marui in Tokyo.
The brand hopes to have a new partner on board in time to distribute the spring 2010 collection.
