Models Dropped After Refusing To Wear Crazy Heels

Three models refusing to wear Alexander McQueen‘s 10-inch stilettos boots (braver souls are pictured above) were given the boot (couldn’t resist) from the eccentric designer’s recent runway show.

Abbey Lee Kershaw (who fainted in McQueen’s Spring ’09 show, due to a tight corset), Natasha Poly and Sasha Pivovarova refused to wear the footwear (dubbed “armadillo shoes”) and allegedly let McQueen know they weren’t willing to risk their health for his visions of fashion grandeur.

Lady Gaga (pictured above) braved the heels in her “Bad Romance” video, becoming the first celebrity to be spotted in them.

What do you think – were the models overreacting or did they have reason to refuse to wear the shoes?

They certainly are fun shoes and match his garments perfectly, but if you can’t walk in them confidently then it’s probably best to withdraw from the show. I don’t think the models were out of line for refusing to wear them nor do I think they were wrong for being relieved either.

As a guy, isn’t it the same comfort as a 5inch heel? I mean its like the whole shoe is raised 5 inches (your toe is raised off the ground like 5 inches from that picture as well). Other then it being a little more “stilt” like.

It could actually be more vertical like most are assuming, but to me, it looks like they added the extra height on the heel and the shoe… am I mistaken?

If they don’t want to do it, what’s the big deal?

Hire models who actually have the confidence to pull it off — isn’t that what makes a runway show great, having models confident to wear your designs and who look great in them?

I’m sure there is no shortage of models who would love to walk in an Alexander McQueen show.

they dont look too bad but they look really uncomfortable those dam crab shoes.. but hey i would do it if they paid me!!

The models might’ve been putting too much on the situation. But I honestly feel like the models had a right to speak up and give their opinion about not wearing those shoes. They look very unique and incredibly uncomfortable to wear but if it’s all for your job then why not just do it and get it done.

  • Women love to wear high heels. These shoes are really nice and stunning.

If he hired them and other models are wearing them, then he has the right to ask them and they have the right to refuse. Not much of an issue there. The shoes are ugly, though. But for an over the top fashion statement, why not?

Personally I like the look Alexander Mqueen has gone for all across the booard. However my personal opinion is that the pairs featured first of are arent very attractive. Sorry thats my opinion. I like the other heels thoug with the more hoof looking design are neat. I also believe its rude for some of you to comment and say those women who refused werent confident. I think if you all look at the real situation, they are fucking dangerous to walk oon and they are mad crazy. So I dont blame them for refusing. Personally I dont think they should have been let go for it. I think they should get other work, not every confident woman is willing to do everythingggg to suceed or make their name. I dont think any of the ladies over reacted, hoow could you over react on that? Really though?
