Today marks the beginning of Black History Month, where we pay homage to African-Americans who have changed the world.

It started off back in 1926 when Dr. Carter G. Woodson, a Harvard Ph.D, launched “Negro History Week” in the second week of February.

In 1976 (the 200th birthday of the U.S.), it was extended to the entire month of February to allow for more time to celebrate with various activities and events.

Today, DrJays.com will be kicking off BHM with daily tributes to African-American fashion icons – past and present.

From actresses to rappers and political figures, we will recognize those who stand out in the world of fashion!

What does Black History Month mean to you?
