Rihanna has meshed the styles of icons past and present to create her own signature looks.

We’ve seen her go from the cute sun-kissed pop princess to the daring fashionista that she is today.

Rihanna’s fierce hairstyles rocked the boat for women everywhere, who ran to their salon in attempts to replicate them.  From the jet black bob to her Prince-esqe hairdo, and most recent bright blond locks, this young songstress is known to set and sky rocket trends to popularity.

She’s often seen transforming the gritty streets of NYC into her own glamorous runway, rocking bold high fashion ensembles with ease and confidence.

Rihanna brought a whole new meaning to the word edgy, with this spiky gold number:

Along with fellow fashion icons like Madonna and Lady Gaga, Rihanna helped launch the trend of lingerie and fetish inspired gear:

She was also one of the first pop stars we saw rocking those over-sized shoulder pads, bleached out denim, funky tights, sailor caps and many more of the hot trends you see today.

The beauty is that Rihanna can just as easily slip into a pair of Nike kicks and jeans, still looking stunning and still making her style her own. It doesn’t hurt that the star is gorgeous with a smoking hot body to match!

“My style is never the same. I like to switch it up, to take risks and be extremely edgy”, Rihanna has said.

“I have done a lot of photo shoots for magazines but it’s always great to be shot for a cover because you know that you are looked at as a fashion icon.”

Check out one of Rihanna’s latest interviews, on the Ellen Show, where she discusses her past as a tomboy and more:
