BHM Fashion Tribute: President Barack Obama
President Barack Obama keeps it simple. Sharp, well tailored suits are pretty much his uniform.
And we can’t forget his accessory of choice – the infamous Blackberry.
Obama tends to favor two-button dark suits with white dress shirts and ties in safe shades of navy, red, grey, etc. – although he openly admits he doesn’t like ties.
“The clean lines and drape of his jacket never seem ill-fitting or bulky. The trouser cuffs break across his cap-toe oxfords just enough to perfectly end the slim silhouette that begins with the soft shouldered jacket”. – AskMen.com
Beyond the shirt on his back, Obama’s style shines from within. Since he first emerged, he captivated so many people with his cool, humorous and humble swag.
Which other president could grace to covers of political magazines as naturally as he could hip hop and high fashion publications?
Obama’s casual style hasn’t been received well by all – take this video clip of former President Bush Chief of Staff Andrew Card criticizing his attire:
Andy must have missed the memo about “CHANGE” during Obama’s campaign.
Check out this amusing excerpt from his Vibe magazine interview:
“I’m generally a pretty conservative dresser, mainly because I just don’t have enough time to think about what I’m wearing. So if I find like some pants that fit, I’ll just buy like five pairs and I’ll just keep recycling them until they get so many holes in them that it’s time to
move on. It was funny because Esquire chose me as one of the 20 best-dressed men in the world, and my wife couldn’t believe it! Cause I’ve got, like, holes with sweaters in ‘em and suits all shiny and worn! And she was like, she was funny. She talked about how there’s probably some guys sitting in a cafe in Milan who spend all their ime thinking about the latest Armanis and stuff, going, ‘Who is this guy Obama?! How did he get there?!’ I think the fact that I keep it simple and stupid probably works for me”.
Well, whether he’s addressing the nation in that suit and tie, hard at work with the sleeves of his crisp white shirt rolled up or rocking a polo and khakis during downtime, Obama appears comfortable and polished at the same time.
