NAACP Awards Pics: Keri Hilson, Chris Rock & More!
The incredible cast of Precious (pictured above) were big winners at the 41st Annual NAACP Image Awards, held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
The film is steamrolling its way to Oscar glory, having won numerous accolades including last night’s Outstanding Motion Picture award.
The NAACP Image Awards are awards presented annually by the American National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (founded in 1909) to honor outstanding people of color in film, television, music and literature. The awards started in 1970.
Lenny Kravitz brought his sexy, rock star vibe to the red carpet (he later presented an award with the hilarious Sherri Shepherd, who wouldn’t let his arm go the entire time).
Keri Hilson just keeps getting hotter, right? She hit the red carpet in this gorgeous black number, bringing Hollywood glamor to the event (and picking up the Outstanding New Talent award on the night).
Wyclef Jean and his wife Claudinette were in attendance. Wyclef gave a spirited performance for the opening number, turning the auditorium into Carnival in homage to Haiti. He also have an impassioned speech later in the night, calling on the world’s leaders not to forget his country’s turmoil.
Taraji P. Henson (she’s like the “people’s champ” of actresses) lit up the carpet with her signature smile, gorgeous earrings and glamorous up ‘do.
Tatyana Ali looked happy and ethereal in this flowing long dress, armed with a big smile and sophisticated touch.
Tyrese Gibson hit the red carpet in a black suit with matching tie and handkerchief.
Always funny Terry Crews and his wife, stars of the BET reality show The Family Crews, hit the red carpet with big smiles.
Red carpet favorite Gabrielle Union always looks beautiful, but this time she switched it up with a more laidback look, complete with new, lighter hair.
There were two big stars on the night: the cast of Precious and Tyler Perry. Perry’s speech was, for us, the highlight of the night:
Model Eva Marcille and actor Lance Gross are still going strong, we see…
Grey’s Anatomy hunk Jesse Williams hit the red carpet and also presented an award on the night.
LL Cool J, current star of NCIS: Los Angeles and his wife (and mother of his four kids) Simone looked great in their matching black outfits.
One of our favorites, Melanie Fiona, looked absolutely beautiful with her side-parted braid, gold accessories and beige dress.
Rapper/actor Darryl “Chill” Mitchell, an award winner on the night, brought everyone to tears with his acceptance speech (Mitchell was paralyzed from the waist down in a November 2001 motorcycle accident).
Funnyman Chris Rock accepted his award for his documentary Good Hair, which he said was made “for Black women everywhere”.
