Kidrobot Is Ditching NYC?

Look like the loud, hectic streets of New York were a little too distracting for the people at Kidrobot.

The company, best known for its colorful limited edition vinyl toys and street apparel, is scoping out offices in Boulder, Colorado, where about half of the 45 person team in NYC will relocate to.

Kidrobot will still keep an office in the Big Apple, so they’re not completely ditching “the city that never sleeps”.

“About a year and a half ago, I moved to Montana. I felt New York City was a wonderful place, but creatively, it seemed I was doing my best work when I was away from the noise,” said Paul Budnitz, the company’s founder and president.

“Boulder has such an educated and lively culture for such a small town,” he said. The move also coincides with the company’s plan to “go green”. A central Boulder location is an ideal place for them to look at products’ materials, using carbon offsets and encouraging employees to use alternative transportation.

Kidrobot started as a toy store and spawned into a multimillion-dollar toy-producing company that eventually launched an apparel line.

Some of Kidrobot’s toys, including dolls from the popular Munny line seen in the video below, are on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
