Purist develops a new series of 5-panel caps as part of its spring 2010 collection.

I’ve been a pretty big advocate of five panel caps as an alternative to the ubiquitous fitted caps. Featured here are three different selections, two boasting a water-proof 500 Denier coated Cordura exterior while a third takes on a ripstop platform with Dyneema fiber threading.

All feature branding courtesy of a Purist patch on the backside, with only 35 in each colorway being produced. The illness is of course that they are rather plain as far as 5-panels go, but the attention to detail and quality will make them timeless.

They are now available, in limited quantities, through the brand’s webstore. Additional information below.

Dyneema® fiber is one of the world’s strongest and lightest fibers. A bright white polyethylene, it is, pound-for-pound, fifteen times stronger than steel, more durable than polyester and has a specific strength that is 40 percent greater than aramid fiber. With outstanding toughness and extraordinary visco-elactic properties, Dyneema® fiber can withstand high-load strain-rate velocities. Light enough to float, it also exhibits high resistance to chemicals, water, and ultraviolet light. It has excellent vibration damping, flex fatigue and internal fiber-friction characteristics.
