Howl If You Hear Me: Yelawolf Signs To Interscope
The world of hip hop just got a bit more diverse. Alabama native and rapper Yelawolf has just signed a major deal after being on and gaining much popularity in the underground scene for years. The ink is still drying from recently signing on the dotted line with Jimmy Iovine’s Interscope Records, the label home of such artists as Eminem, P. Diddy, and fellow Alabamian, Rich Boy.
Don’t let his slim physique, tattooed body, white skin and long hair fool you. Far from a Kid Rock, Yelawolf is a lyricist with a sound reminiscent of a cross between Devin the Dude and Andre 3000. The 27-year-old rapper has collaborated with the likes of Bizarre of D12, Bun B, Juelz Santana, Slim Thug, and Raekwon. Yelawolf dropped various mixtapes, including his latest, Trunk Muzik, which has been embraced and acclaimed by fans and listeners alike.
He will remain with his longtime independent label Ghet-O-Vision Entertainment, based in Atlanta, Georgia, as he prepares to drop his debut full-length studio album under the guidance of Interscope in the near future. The newly signed rapper is currently on a 20 date U.S. tour, opening for Wiz Khalifa. He’s also a model for ORISUE.
All of the above is certainly good news for a man who once worked as a deep sea fisherman in Seattle, Washington.
