Who Knew Erykah Badu Had All That!? Check Out Her “Window Seat” Video

Okay, so we weren’t huge fans of her hairstyle of choice as of late, but we can’t deny the sexy and sultry Erykah Badu hit a home run with her latest music video, “Window Seat.” What you probably didn’t know is that the Dallas, Texas native could have been thrown in jail for stripping down to what God gave her in public during the video shoot.

Yep, we aren’t playing. Erykah’s team never even attempted to get a permit to shoot the video in the park around her hometown. They wanted to be rebels! As told to MTV News:

That’s more than likely why they circumvented the permit,” said [Dallas Police Department Senior Corporal Janice Crowther]. Directors Coodie and Chike of Creative Control told MTV News that they did not apply for or obtain any permits for the shoot and kept a keen eye out for any police while filming.

“What was crazy was the fact that…it’s a high tourist area, so there was patrol cars all day, and I [was hearing] sirens, looking up and seeing some kind of sherriff’s car or something,” Chike, director of Creative Control (the team responsible for the video), recalled to MTV News on Monday. “So I was like, ‘This is gonna be interesting.’ Her contingency plan was get arrested—she was big on doing it.”

“We had bail money and everything,” Coodie chimed in. “I think she really wanted to get arrested and even make a bigger message. You know what I’m saying?”

Talk about dedication to her craft! If you didn’t already know, her sixth studio album, New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh, is in stores now. Scoop it when you can. Check the video out below, and get ready to be surprised twice. Incredible artistic expression, from the way the video was shot to the message she’s trying to convey.
