Will The Third Season Of The Boondocks Be The Last?

It’s time for the controversy to start again! At least for the summer, that is. Fans of The Boondocks are both excited and outraged by the recent news regarding the upcoming season. While there’s been no official statement from creator Aaron McGruder, Sony Entertainment, or Adult Swim, a bold suggestion about the fate of the satirical cartoon has been made public in the form of a three-minute trailer.

The trailer begins with the words, “On May 2nd, the final season of Aaron McGruder’s award-winning series.” Further explanation for the decision has yet to been given.

If it’s any consolation, the trailer is jam packed with new characters (older secondary characters seem poised for larger roles, as well) and a great deal of action.

Recently released screenshots seem to show most of the characters have aged from the first and second seasons, adding a bit of realism to the animation. You can also expect your favorite characters to don new costumes, some strikingly different from their normal garb.

Of course, there’s sure to be a mile-long list of celebrity guest appearances as well. (If so, how’d they get everyone to keep quiet?)

The entire trailer is full of showdowns, martial arts, fighting, shooting and high-speed chases. However, no amount of action seems to be enough to tide us over if The Boondocks never comes back.

Check the trailer out below:

What do you think of the new trailer? Do you think this will really be the third, and final, season of The Boondocks? Why do you think the show is ending? Let us know in the comments section!
